One Damn Thing After Another

Arctic Front

In the United States a couple of genius level Senators have proposed the PIRATE Act. Up to ten years in jail for those file sharers. For naught in light of Justice von Finckenstein's decision.

The most interesting element of yesterday's decision is that it fundamentally destroys any long range hope the RIAA might have of ending file sharing.

The decision lets Canadians leave their shared folders open. Americans using P2P can close their shared folders and simply download from Canada. If the shared folder is closed there is virtually no chance that the RIAA's sleuths will be able to detect the downloading.

We are rapidly becoming a full service country - cheap prescription drugs, quasi legal pot, legal gay marriage and downloads to go.
